For World Mental Health Day, October 10th, Cristina Tassorelli, Professor of Neurology, University of Pavia, Italy, discusses how awareness of migraine is important as it may be an ‘invisible’ illness. This is due to a person predominantly being seen in public only in the interictal period, so not thought of as having a chronic, life-affecting condition. While migraine is not classed as a mental health disorder, psychiatric conditions, including anxiety and depression, may be comorbid and a patient’s quality of life can be poor.
