The importance of measuring patient satisfaction with treatment

At ECNP 2022, Professor Leslie Citrome discussed the importance of measuring a patient’s satisfaction with their treatment and progress. This may be in the form of measuring level of symptoms, such as delusions, as well measuring aspects of functionality, such as having a job and being social. Rating scales are useful but not widely used. Focus should be on both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia as their impact on functionality and distress can be equal.
